One of the greatest new features of the SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio application is its ability to connect to the new semantic layer universes. Since its inception, SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio could connect directly to SAP HANA and to SAP NetWeaver but users of the SAP BusinessObjects 4.0 platform had no way of leveraging semantic layers to build dashboards in SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio. There are a lot of resources that show you how to build Design Studio applications based on semantic layers, but there are little to no resources to show you how to configure your SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio environment to connect to a platform. In this video, I will show you how to configure SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio to connect to the SAP BusinessObjects 4.x platform to not only leverage semantic layers but to also publish your SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio applications to the platform for consumption in the Launch Pad or on your mobile devices.
